When I think of Emily all I see is her smile....even her eyes have smiles....It's the love she has inside that radiates from her that draws people near to her and to eachother.
To know her or be touched by her is a life blessing.

My memories of her are her smiles mostly, and meeting her when the silt middle school all kinda shifted to Riverside. She was so nice to everyone, and never stopped smiling.

The first time I met Emily, I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I finally said, "you are so pretty!". Of course, she blushed. Emily's beauty was not only her physical beauty, but also in her heart. What I saw in Emily that day could not go unmentioned, it was worth the risk of embarrassment.
Her warm heart and love was reflected this week in all the support that spilled from everyone in our community. Everyone has such kind and wonderful things to say about her. She truly was an inspiration to many. Sheryl, Dale, and Hanna, you were so blessed to have such an angel in your lives. Now, she will watch out over you with her beautiful wings spread wide, until you meet again in Heaven.
All my love to you. With sincere and deepest sympathy,

Jill Libby

The most vivid and truly "Emily-esqe" memory I have of Emily happened during the CRHS-Vail soccer game during her freshman year.

One of the Vail defenders was watching Emily streak down the right side of the field with the ball, headed for the net. The defender ran more than halfway across the field at full speed to (literally!)cross-check Emily. Em was violently hit and thrown about 15 feet backward off her feet and onto her butt.

My first reaction was "Oh,my God! She's not goin to get up... she's hurt...". Nope. Not Emily!

She almost immediately popped up to her feet. Straight armed, fists clenched tight, she stomped around in circles... those pigtails flying right and left as she shook her head and began to give the ref a little "piece of her mind".

I have laughed with Allyssa and called Emily a cross between a Pit Bull and a Chihuahua. All that passion and energy in such a little body! I swear, she vibrated - you could feel the waves coming at you... (then you usually had to brace yourself for the body-tackle hug that you were about to get!).

We will miss her hugs and smiles. We will miss watching her use her talent on the soccer field. She leaves a hole in this world that only she could uniquely fill.

We send ourlove to and share in the sadness for Emily, her family, and legion of friends,

Marcee, Dave, Jonathan, and Allyssa Little

I believe it was the night that sheryl and D.J. got married, but it might have been the next night as a very quick honeymoon...anyway...we had Emily for a sleepover. I remember she arrived suitcase in tow and very excited to be having a sleepover with Thomas. I remember her in her mustard colored footy pajama's...too cute. We set the kids up with sleeping bags in the living room so they could have a camp out. Thomas and Emily had great fun together!

XOXO

May the road rise up to meet you;
May the wind be always at your back;
May the sun shine warm upon you face;
The rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again;
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

So, this morning I saw the sunrise, and I just knew that was her smiling down on us. Her smile has always been the brightest, and now she's reminding us of that through the sun that shines in through our windows. I think one of my fave memories was in the 6th grade when she convinced me her name was Emileena, and then i went up to the six chicks and questioned it and they just laughed at me. haha Emily was hilarious, I remember thinking it was funny instead of being mad. She was the type of person that turned everything into a smile fest. I love it.

Sheryl: Only the warmest of thoughts are sent your way. My memory is of a bright eyed, dark haired little scamp of a doll. I was at your house for an interview, and was told that there were several children lurking about. Just as i was relaying a story about my sister, out of the corner of my eye I caught a slight movement, and as I glanced towards that movement, I spied the brightest eyes peering through the stairs- angelic does not do the image justice, but it is the best I can offer. I had just met you, and had no idea who this incredible child was- turns out it was your beautiful baby. Although I did not personally know Emily, she inadvertently touched my life that day, and added joy, beauty, and a sense of wonderment to my life. She also touched my youngest son, as someone else said, who really knows that fairies do not exist in gardens or if there are carpet people? Love and Peace...The Murphy's
